Sitcoms are a staple for British television. From 'Only Fools and Horses' and 'Fawlty Towers' to 'Gavin and Stacey' and 'The League of Gentlmen' sitcoms have had us laughing for years.
Now it's the turn of 'Don't Tape Over'. Comedy group 'Seldom Differ', made up of John Patrick, Matthew Skillington, Ryan Howes and James Lord, are wanting to create a sitcom pilot with an edge.
The basic story is simple. Though trying to live a normal life the islanders of Glengall, a fictional island, are constantly haunted by their dark past which keeps showing its ugly face through the medium of old VHS tapes.
The original teaser created by the group went down brilliantly with their large cult followers but was also noticed by 'Shooting Stars' and 'House of Fools' legend, Bob Mortimer who said " It's the best thing I've seen in ages!".
Now they are asking for pledges through Kickstarter to make their dream of bringing the sitcom to life a reality. So, how is Whistle Video involved - "you just deal with video production and animation don't you?" I hear you all scream. Not true.
Our in house designer, Sam, is creating all of the official artwork for 'Don't Tape Over'. If people pledge then Sam creates personalised imagery!
